Getting Started

How do I start tracking my pet?

Open the app and add a pet from the Dashboard or onboarding screen — enter their name, species, and the conditions you want to track. There's no sign-up and no email required. You can begin logging right away.

How do I log a seizure?

Go to the Log tab and choose Seizure. You can start the one-tap timer the moment an episode begins; when it ends, the duration is saved automatically. Add severity and any notes, then save. You can also add a past episode manually by setting its time.

How do I log glucose, medications, or symptoms?

From the Log tab, pick the entry type: a blood-glucose reading, a medication dose, or a symptom. Each takes just a few seconds. Doses you record feed into the adherence view in Trends.

How do reminders work?

You can set repeating reminders for medications and a daily glucose-check reminder. They're delivered as iOS notifications. Note that notification timing depends on your device and iOS settings — treat reminders as a helpful aid, not a guaranteed alarm for life-critical dosing.

Trends & Reports

What do the Trends charts show?

Trends visualize seizure frequency over time with markers where you changed a medication, the glucose curve (Premium), and medication adherence. They're designed to help you spot patterns to discuss with your vet — they are not medical advice.

How do I export a report for my vet?

Open Settings and choose to export. A CSV export is available on the free tier; the formatted vet-ready PDF report is a Premium feature. Both use the iOS share sheet, so you can email, AirDrop, or save the file anywhere — it never passes through us.

Can I attach a video of an episode?

Yes, on Premium. When logging or editing an episode you can attach a video clip from your Photos library — useful for showing your vet exactly what a seizure looked like. Clips are stored locally on your device.

Pets & Free vs Premium

Can I track more than one pet?

The free tier supports 1 pet profile. Premium unlocks unlimited pets, so you can track a whole household.

What's free vs Premium?

Free: 1 pet, up to 2 active medications, full seizure/glucose/med/symptom logging, reminders, the last 30 days of history and trends, and CSV export — with no ads. Premium: unlimited pets and medications, full history and trends, glucose-curve charts, vet-report PDF export, video clips, and home-screen widgets.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — the Premium Annual plan ($34.99/year) includes a 7-day free trial. You're only charged at the end of the trial, and you can cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings before it ends.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies an active subscription previously purchased on the same Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Vela and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Privacy & Security

Where does my pet's data go?

It stays on your iPhone. Vela has no account and no servers that hold your data — nothing is uploaded. You can confirm by using the app in Airplane Mode; everything still works. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I lock the app?

Yes. You can enable App Lock in Settings to require Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode before the app opens. Authentication is handled by iOS — we never see your biometric data.

What permissions does the app need?

Only optional ones: Notifications (for reminders), Photo Library read-only (only for a clip or photo you attach), and Face ID / Touch ID (only if you enable App Lock). No microphone, camera, location, or HealthKit access.

Is my data backed up?

Vela stores data only on your device, so there's no cloud backup. Your data is included in your device's standard encrypted iPhone backups (iCloud or Finder/iTunes). Deleting the app removes its data, so export a report periodically if you'd like an off-device copy.
